Joel provides the following information for residents:

I moved to Chelmsford with my mother in 1985 at the age of 10 just across the road from where Beaulieu is now in North Springfield.

I have been involved in the 2nd phase of Beaulieu since long before the building began as I was part of Countryside’s public focus groups providing opinions and feedback on the house designs so I knew how nice it was going to be here and made it my ultimate aim to move here which I successfully did after several attempts and looking at several house designs in March 2021.

As a result I have quite an extensive knowledge of the area. As a result of living here for so long and also due to all my work in the community I am well known and respected.

I am a Petty Officer in the Sea Cadets and so have experience of youth groups and working with young people in Chelmsford and the wider London area as I am the London Area Staff officer for CIS (Communications and Information Systems). Within London area my aim is to get more young people learning about and interested in communications either as a career or hobby (I am a licensed radio ham).

I am a telecoms engineer by trade and work from home most of the time so am usually around the area and able to assist with things that may come up on a day to day basis.

I have in the last year began to get more involved in local politics and ran for a seat on Chelmsford City Council last May in Springfield sadly I didn’t get a seat but did get almost 600 votes which I consider good for a 1st timer. This helped me understand a lot more about local issues and I also know a lot of the local councillors across Chelmsford as a result.
