On 17th September 2024, Councillors from Chelmsford Garden Community Council were pleased to join the Mayor of Chelmsford at the unveiling ceremony for the new statue of a mammoth at Channels Park.
The Mayor presented a plaque to Hugo Kirby from the Channels Community Stewardship CIC to complete the handover of the district’s newest public artwork.
Our Councillors Derek Drew Smith, Melanie Williamson and Andrew Wright were there to witness the arrival!
Local stones have been included within the mammoth’s body and landscaping around the sculpture has been added to create the effect of this magnificent creature rising from the ground.
